With many families working and learning at home, it takes some extra planning to help kids get enough movement in their day. But just an hour or more of physical activity each day can help your kiddos develop strong bodies, motor skills, focus and memory. We're here with a few tips to help you get started.
But most importantly, if your kids aren't feeling their best while learning at home, count on Centra Care to help your family feel better fast. Our team is here for you seven days a week, with online reservations available.
Schedule These 3 Fun Activity Breaks
Plan to incorporate small activity breaks throughout your child's day. Younger kids will likely need a break after 20 minutes of learning (and might require your help to get started), while older children might only need a break between subjects. These get-moving ideas can get you started:
- Make it a game: To help keep little bodies in motion, try quick, active games such as tag, hide-and-seek, tug of war, Simon Says, or Red Light, Green Light.
- Take dance breaks: Let your kids play DJ and shake their sillies out with a few minutes of upbeat, mood-boosting music.
- Get a change of scenery: Getting outside for a walk, hitting a local trail or visiting a park can help kids spend some energy and refocus their minds, too.
Here to Help Kids' Bodies and Brains Stay Healthy
If your plans for regular activity breaks don't go as you expected, don't get discouraged. It doesn't matter how your kids get exercise, as long as they get moving. Be creative, improvise and find what works for your family. And remember we're here to support your family's healthy lifestyle. We'd be glad to answer any questions you have, and of course, will be here for any urgent care needs that arise.
