Frequently Asked Questions - COVID-19 Testing Centra Care (Florida)

A woman using her mobile phone to book an appointment.

AdventHealth Centra Care has COVID-19 antigen and PCR testing available for patients with a provider visit at all Florida locations.

Can I come in for just a test?

When you come to AdventHealth Centra Care for a test, you’ll be evaluated by one of our providers (a physician or nurse practitioner) who will then administer the test. If you’re experiencing symptoms, the provider may also suggest treatment options during your appointment. You do not need to have symptoms to be tested.

What’s the cost of a COVID-19 test with insurance?

Centra Care accepts most insurance plans and will bill your plan if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or have COVID-19 symptoms. Your deductible or copay may apply depending on your plan benefits. Many insurance plans do not cover a COVID-19 test for work, travel or curiosity. If your insurance does not cover a COVID-19 test for these reasons, the cost is $179.00 for a rapid test and/or $199.25 for a PCR test. Centra Care will still bill your insurance as a courtesy, and will refund the amount paid if your insurance plan reimburses the visit.

What’s the cost of a COVID-19 test if I’m uninsured?

If you’re uninsured, your COVID-19 test will be covered under the CARES Act if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or have COVID-19 symptoms. If you’re uninsured and are seeking a COVID-19 test for work, travel or curiosity, you will be charged $179.00 for a rapid antigen test and/or $199.25 for a PCR test.

What’s the typical wait time for COVID-19 testing with a reservation?

Your time is important to us and we are committed to minimizing your wait times. Wait times may vary due to the nature of urgent care, the volume of patients at the facility and CDC guidelines established for patient safety.

Both the rapid antigen and PCR tests consist of a nasal swab.
