Nine Physicians Join Shawnee Mission Health

Shawnee Mission Health, a member of Adventist Health System, welcomes nine physicians, including Henry Arst, MD, FACEP, Emergency Medicine; Cara Goodell, MD, Family Medicine; Ingrid Keleti, MD, Internal Medicine; David Kennedy, MD, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics; Karen Levin, MD, Neurology; Charlie Matteson, MD, Family Medicine; Marjon Monfared, MD, Family Medicine; Ramon Nichols, MD, Occupational Medicine and Jee-hyon Park, MD, Internal Medicine.

Dr. Henry Arst is Board-certified in Emergency and Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital and emergency medicine residency at the University of California – San Francisco Valley Medical Center. For the past nine years, Dr. Arst was an emergency physician at Bates County Memorial Hospital. He provides care for patients at Centra Care – Shawnee Mission Urgent Care in Olathe.

Dr. Cara Goodell is Board-certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American College of Family Practice. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University, a master’s degree in endocrinology-reproductive physiology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at Scott & White Hospital. Previously, Dr. Goodell practiced family medicine at Stuarts Draft Primary Care at Augusta Health Hospital. She provides care for patients at Centra Care – Shawnee Mission Urgent Care in Shawnee.

Dr. Ingrid Keleti is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas and a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. Her internship and residency in internal medicine were both completed at the University of Pittsburgh, where she also pursued a fellowship in infectious disease. Dr. Keleti has practiced emergency medicine for more than two decades and now provides care for patients at Centra Care – Shawnee Mission Urgent Care locations across Johnson County.

Dr. David Kennedy is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Society of Internal Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in mathematics and biology from Creighton University and a Doctor of Medicine from the Creighton University Medical School. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah Hospital and a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kennedy provides care for patients at Shawnee Mission Primary Care – Prairie View Medical Building on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus.

Dr. Karen Levin is Board-certified in Neurology and Psychiatry and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. She earned her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University Medical School. She completed her neurology residency at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center, where she also completed a fellowship in neurophysiology/epilepsy. Prior to joining SMH, Dr. Levin was in private practice for more than 20 years. She joins Shawnee Mission Neurology Consultants as SMH’s first neurohospitalist, and provides care exclusively for patients at SMMC.

Dr. Charlie Matteson is Board-certified in Family Medicine and holds certificates in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Kansas State University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in family medicine. Previously, Dr. Matteson practiced family medicine as an emergency department physician at Western Plains Medical Complex. He provides care for patients at Spira Care in Shawnee.

Dr. Marjon Monfared is Board-certified in Family Medicine and earned her Doctor of Medicine from King’s College School of Medicine at the University of London. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons at Stamford Hospital. Prior to joining SMH, Dr. Monfared served as medical director at the Department of Corrections in Leavenworth, Kan. Previously, she worked in preventative health for Albany Medical Centre in London. Dr. Monfared provides care for patients at Shawnee Mission Primary Care – Shawnee Crossings.

Dr. Ramon Nichols holds certifications as a Medical Review Officer and a Certified Medical Examiner. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and his Doctor of Medicine at Meharry Medical College. He completed an internal medicine internship at St. Luke’s Hospital and his residency at Hurley Medical Center. Prior to joining SMH, Dr. Nichols specialized in occupational health for St. Francis Hospital for nearly five years. He brings more than 35 years of medical experience to provide care for patients at CorporateCare in Lee’s Summit.

Dr. Jee-hyon Park is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and received her Bachelor of Science in genetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital of Queens. Prior to joining SMH, she served as an internal medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente – Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Dr. Park provides care for patients at Shawnee Mission Primary Care – De Soto.
