OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Ashley McDonald is the new administrator for the Shawnee Mission Health – Overland Park campus. McDonald previously served as director of marketing for SMH. In her new role, she will focus on making connections with the south Overland Park community to increase awareness of SMH’s third Johnson County campus. Additionally, McDonald will provide day-to-day operational oversight for the south campus, working collaboratively with leadership across SMH.

McDonald has been with SMH since 2008, focusing on marketing strategy, internal communications and community relations. She has cultivated relationships with a variety of local organizations and area chambers of commerce. McDonald is a 2017 graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber’s Centurions Leadership Program and currently serves as board chair for the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas.

“In her 10 years with Shawnee Mission Health, Ashley has created long-lasting relationships between our organization and the community at large,” said SMH’s Vice President of Ambulatory Development Robin Harrold. “Her leadership will be an integral part of growing our Overland Park campus.”

SMH – Overland Park opened in the BluHawk development at 159th Street and 69 Highway in early 2017. The campus includes an emergency department, lab, imaging center and a medical office building that houses primary care, physical therapy, women’s imaging and various other specialties. SMH was one of the first businesses to open in the BluHawk development, which also includes Cosentino’s Market, retail, restaurants, public safety and single- and multi-family residences. A civic and community center, indoor sports complex, hotel and Cosmosphere Innovation Space are proposed for the next phase of the development.
